Terms of Service
1. Who can use Fellowship
You must be at least 17 years old to use Fellowship. By using the app, you confirm that you are. If you're using it on behalf of someone else, you confirm you have the authority to agree to these terms for them.
2. Your account
- You sign in with your phone number and a one-time SMS code. Keep your device and phone number secure.
- You're responsible for the activity on your account.
- If you lose access to your phone number, contact us and we'll help where we can.
3. What Fellowship is, and isn't
- Fellowship offers peer presence, check-ins, and connection with people you've chosen to be in your circle.
- Fellowship is not a substitute for professional medical, psychiatric, or addiction treatment.
- Fellowship is not affiliated with Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, or any other twelve-step organization.
- Content in the app — including AI-generated replies — is for support, not advice. Don't rely on it for medical, legal, or financial decisions.
4. Acceptable use
To keep the space safe, don't:
- Harass, threaten, dox, or impersonate anyone.
- Share another member's identity, messages, or check-ins outside the app. Anonymity matters here.
- Use Fellowship to sell, promote, or solicit — including treatment programs, supplements, or services.
- Post sexual content, content involving minors, or content that promotes self-harm or substance use.
- Attempt to break, probe, or reverse-engineer the app, or use it to send spam, malware, or automated traffic.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules.
5. AI-assisted features
Some features (such as Need Support and Sponsor) generate replies using an AI model. These replies are produced by software and may be wrong, incomplete, or insensitive. They are not advice from a counselor, sponsor, or medical professional. See our Privacy Policy for how this data is handled.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of the messages, check-ins, and other content you create. You grant Fellowship a limited license to store and display that content so the app can work — for example, delivering your message to the person in your circle you sent it to. We don't use your content to train AI models.
7. Ending your use
- You can stop using Fellowship at any time. To delete your account, email support@thefellowship.com.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or put other members at risk.
8. Disclaimers
Fellowship is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that the app will be available, error-free, or that messages will always be delivered.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Fellowship and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim related to the app is limited to one hundred US dollars (US$100).
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll change the date at the top. For material changes, we'll notify you in the app or by SMS. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California.
